The key words being “news that people pay attention to.” That is to say the topics and opinions that people choose to consume or are fed by their social media feed – which may be manipulated. Is it better to be misinformed or uninformed?
“Quitting” also has different meanings to different people. It’s possible to withdraw from the vast majority of the noise and advertising while still remaining connected on one’s own terms.
